I saw Dr. Redfern for TMD problems following a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. He ordered an MRI of my jaw, did casts and put me in a therapeutic splint. He told me he was going to follow up on the splint in nine months, which he did not. After reminding him more than once (and did I mention I have a brain injury?), he finally reviewed the MRI he'd ordered over a year earlier, only to find it was not normal, as the reviewing radiologist had determined. Before I settled my lawsuit, I'd been seeing him for unscheduled shots in both jaws from all the stress, and he even gave me some deposition prep so he knew I was close to settling. AFTER I settled, he informed me I needed retesting, recasting, a new splint, and possibly braces: thousands of dollars I didn't plan for when settling. Needless to say, he was fired, and today I saw Dr. James Colt, who informed me the splint I was in was actually negatively affecting my bite, but all I need is a better splint, not thousands of dollars of retesting and so on. My total bill for messing up my bite from Redfern was almost $14,000.00. I would not recommend Dr. Redfern to anyone I liked, but I would recommend Dr. Colt to everyone.
