Todd Benia seems to be very interested in telling anyone who will listen how long he has been a doctor and how good he is.He often doesn't show up for appointments and when he does he is hours late. His staff tells patients he is not at his office because he had to take care of patients on an emergency basis at Northridge Hospital (contact the hospital yourself to confirm if he sees patients at the hospital.) You may be surprised at the response, so if he isn't taking care of patients at the hospital what keeps him from taking care of patients at his offices. He has three offices Northridge, Covina, and Palm Springs and they are equally dysfunctional. I would not allow him to take care of my clinical needs nor would I recommend him to anyone I know.

Oh my goodness this was literally the WORST dental office ever! I speak from experience, I have had horrible dental problems all of my life. I went there because of their "easy payment options" because although we have pretty good insurance we have been in and out of work and our paychecks are not always guarenteed. So after originally telling me I had $20,000 worth of work to be done (way over inflated as oppposed to other dentists) so after we got them down to 5800 for JUST the stuff I absolutely needed then and there we explored their "credit" program...yeah right we were supposed to put down 3800 and pay the rest off in monthly installments of 200. why even offer??? then I asked their Insurance consultant how much for just one extraction the one that was infected. She told me $16 since my insurance covered 80%...she failed to mention my $50 deductable (also my fault for not knowing) anyhow I made the appointment and came on time only to be told I'd have to wait hours past my appt time for the denti-cal patients losing their denti-cal.....what the hell?? You had warning for months before they lost coverage....anyhow when it was my turn the idiot receptionist told me it would now be $400 for the downpaymen....I argued forever wi

I have had treatment by Dr. Benia, love his staff! My mouth has not felt this good in a long time, I still have more treatment to go but do not even dread that anymore as he has been so gentle and everyone one in that office makes sure I feel comfortable.

The office manager (Frances) is extremely rude at the Covina CA office. She possesses absolutely no communications skills whatsoever. Talks over you when you are speaking and becomes offensive when you point this out. The Covina office has absolutely no place for patients to discuss patient care and payment options with office staff so discussions are done within ear shot of everyone in the office or worse in the reception area where total strangers can listen in. The reception area is tiny so sound bounces off the walls. A normal conversation, in a normal tone can be easily misconstrued as one being or becoming loud. In my particular case, I've been accused by the office manager of raising my voice at her during discussions, this is something I did not nor would not do. Aside from this, Dr Todd Benia claims to offer patient care and he will tell you that he cares but yet in the same breath won't hesitate to tell you take your business elsewhere if you question his prognosis or recommendations. In my case, he advised me that I needed bone graft surgery in one tooth due to bone loss, he exposed the tooth, then claimed the tooth was fractured at the root (I've no idea how he could tell this by opening the gum) the X-Ray did not reveal any fracture. He told me that he advised an implant. So we went from a (roughly) $3000 procedure to a $6000 procedure. He became bothered when I questioned him; this is when he advised me to take my business elsewhere. Over 4 weeks ago, I asked for a copy of my patient chart and a copy of the x-rays he took so I can take my business elsewhere and to date I have not recieved. It is like pulling teeth. You are not allowed to speak to anyone in the office but the office manager (Frances, the woman that doesn't have any communication skills) and I was actually told by Paul, a dental assistant, that Dr Todd Benia will not speak to me so you're trapped in a vicious circle of total frustration. Do yourself a favor... AVOID THIS DOCTOR. I will say this however, TO BE FAIR, not all the staff I encountered at the Covina Office are rude and unprofessional. Terri and Tracy did offer me EXCELLENT patient care while under their care.

About Hygienist: Terri, the HYGIENIST is great.
