At initial exam, Dr. W found numerous cavities (but said "a couple" in the treatment room; only the front staff explained his 'diagnosis'; yet even that was only to discuss fees....) He also said I had gum disease & wanted to do extensive/multiple treatments. My gums have always been good, so I got a 2nd opinion from a periodontist (gum specialist). I had no cavities nor gum disease, and he said if I "have gum disease, then everyone does". The only actual problem was a chipped tooth, that single item was not in dispute. His 'extra findings' totalled $4,000, a ridiculous and dangerous diagnosis. Obviously, Dr. W does not expect people to actually know they have a healthy mouth. I am sorry for all the people he has surely treated while making up needs. "First do no harm". I reported him to the dental board, to cause him to perhaps be more careful.. but since I didn't let him treat me, there was on 'harm' to myself, nor action taken. His lax attitude plus costs were out the roof also. I would not let my worst enemy go to this dishonest dentist. He is a clearly a motivated business man, not a health provider! This happened years ago, and I only report this if it helps someone. And, my gums continue to be just fine on all check-ups.

About Front Desk: They were hurried, and did not want to explain the lengthy meaning of Dr. W's "treatment" plan which was in dental coding.. They only wanted to tell me what my part of payments was. I called back to try to actually find out what Dr. W intended to do, (asking the meaning of each line item)- they hung up on me. Incomprehensible!

About Hygienist: *I did not have a cleaning, but note here for space that my rating of "painful procedures" is what Dr. W WOULD have caused me, had I let him inject me multiple times for gum disease treatments I did not need. He did cause me much stress when I wondered how my mouth could have declined since past checkups, and added $cost for 2nd opinion, and took my time, and efforts even to report him, which was responsible if it deterred him not to harm others.. :( !

I know this doctor: Just one visit prior to 2nd opinion
