This review only applies for the rare minority of people who don't tolerate ultrasound. Most people don't notice it. My first visit, after several years of neglect, went very well with x-rays & discussion of findings... with a gum treatment scheduled and two fillings that my insurance would pay,( as opposed to caps that I was not in a position to pay anything for) I had requested hand scaling as I knew I didn't tolerate ultrasound. I am a respectful yet squirmy patient, and agreed to try the ultrasound first as there would be novacain injections. Unfortunately the ultrasound device was still intolerable, I was not able to hold still, and by that time Dr. Farzam was too exasperated to continue. He was very professional in redirecting me, yet I would have preferred to at least have received the hand scaling which I originally requested, once it was obvious that I really couldn't tolerate the ultrasound tool even with the novacain. The fillings had already been completed quickly and efficiently before attempting the gum treatment, I'm glad to have had those done.
