Dr. Kirk and his assistant basically would not perform the work I needed done unless I agreed to his using a medication that would put me partially under, a gas-type. I wanted novocaine, since I do not react well to other types of sedation, and I like being fully awake to hear any uh-oh's that are said and to feel what is going on in a locally numbed state. I had to agree, and the result was horrible. The reason they like to use this type is so they can be rough in the procedure, and you won't feel it. He was so rough that within an hour of arriving home, a tooth next to the one he was extracting broke off, due to instruments hitting the good tooth. He and his assistants laughed and joked the whole time, which tells me he wasn't concentrating on what he was supposed to be doing. The also charged extra for this type of sedation, whereas the novocaine is always calculated in with the extraction fee. So, another reason is extra income.
