Dr. Yapa has pulled wisdom teeth for my 3 children, and a tooth of mine. He is a superb and highly skilled oral surgeon, with a great chair-side manner. My dentist has recommended him to my family for years. His staff is friendly, competent and attentive. The office is clean, comfortable, well appointed and relaxing. Waiting is minimal and you leave feeling respected and cared for. I'd highly recommend him for any of your oral surgery needs.

About Front Desk: As front staff go, and clinical staff too, they are some of the best. Flexible, attentive, courteous and patient.

My son was suppose to have his wisdom teeth out end a cyst. My son was really nerves. I was told that I had to leave the office so the Doctor can come in. I went into the waiting room. Then with in other 10 minutes the assistant told me.that he changed.his mind. When I aaked my son what happen? He stated that Dr. Yapa told him it's time for him to grow up!! That he has otber patients and is this going to happen! My son said no because of your attitude!! Since wben do doctors have a rigbt to treat patients poorly? Also we waited about 30 minutes. Going to someone new!!

About Front Desk: The receptionist was helpful.

I have never been treated as poorly by a doctor. I needed a replacement sleep apnea oral device, but my insurance had changed and new one would not allow me to go back to UM. HAP told me to call a list of oral doctors to find one to provide the service (yes, HAP is crappy insurance). Found Dr. Yapa, fully explained situation on phone, was assured he provided this service, made appt despite the fact the office was an hour away from me....got there only to be told by Yapa, "I'm a surgeon, what are you doing here?". Nevertheless office staff said he could make me the device, but they needed to get insurance approval so all they could do that day was xrays (why didn't they do that before!!). X-rays were in May but it took until Sept for HAP to finally approve all the office visits and procedure codes. Finally had an appt to have mold made, Monday morn appt. Late Fri afternoon rec'd call from office stating they had to cancel appt because Yapa no longer performs this service! But the most incredible part is they still expected me to pay $110 for the xrays! I have never been so angry and told the billing person that I would be sure to post this situation online, and that Yapa would have to sue me for the $$. Avoid!!!

Orthognathic surgery 8/29/12: Dr. Yapa is one of the most kindhearted, talented, gifted practioner. Rare to find a down to earth, intelligent, fully capable and successful surgeon. Believe me, my case was a difficult one. My pics tell the story. I recommend Dr. Yapa and his wonderful staff for treatment. I don't easily trust doctor's, but he has my trust. The healing process will take time but surprise, there was such minimum swelling, i surprised the staff. The pain is bearable with meds and time. HAP insurance covered the surgery withno denials. Compared to other surgeons' fees with Dr. Yapa, my out of pocket fee prior to surgery was minimal. The office staff is what staff is suppose to be, Professional and caring.

I went to see Dr. Yapa in his new Southfield location a few months ago. I had an implant treatment plan previously presented to me by a very pleasant and informative Mrs. McCain. After obtaining funds I started my implant placement. To make a long story short I received the all on four system on top and was so pleased I plan on returning to have the bottoms done.Great Job!!!!!

Dr. Yapa's office appears to be a wonderful place. They are quick with insurance help and setting appointments. The only problem with Dr. Yapa's office is Dr. Yapa. He doesn't care for his patients. He wants to be in and out. If you dare as a question; he will tell you to reschedule. His office overbooks and he is beyond busy. He spends no time with them. If you want a doctor who will talk and listen to you, don't go to Dr. Yapa!

Dr. Yapa removed all my wisdom teeth (4) at the same time. He explained everything about the surgery in detail, and gave me very useful tips of post-operation care. The surgery only took about 30-40 minutes. Three hours after the surgery, the pain seemed gone without the help of painkillers.
