Super nice guy and great dentist. He did my veneer 10 years ago and it still looks like new.

About Hygienist: Nice eyes and very experienced and gentle.

Dr. Pickel is awesome. He has a sparkling personality; I actually enjoy going to the dentist and catching up with him. His office is also extremely high-tech and he really means it when he says they have a commitment to ongoing patient education.

I tried Dr. Pickel based on the great reviews. Wow was I disappointed. Appointments are very difficult they want you (even as an existing patient) to schedule 6 months in advance. I got the impression the costly procedures were unnecessary After a very lengthy sales pitch that I really needed to get artificial material added to my eyeteeth, since those are the linchpin of the bite and misshapen eyeteeth cause bite problems and jaw misalignment, I finally agreed. After the painful procedure (not painless as promised) I found teeth not worked on were now painfully rubbing against each other. I waited a couple weeks and finally went back. Dr. Pickel examined me, agreed they were rubbing, and got out the drill. Instead of attacking the artificial material as I had expected, he began removing enamel from the healthy teeth that were rubbing! I was outraged. When I asked for an explanation, he said, contrary to that sales pitch before, that changing the shape of the eye tooth had nothing to do with the alignment of the jaw and other teeth! During the original procedure, there was an "oops" Turns out he missed with the drill and it gouged out a trail on my front teeth. No apology, no money back.

About Hygienist: My one visit, she was running over 45 minutes late at 7:30 in the morning. She was in such a rush and so flustered, she jammed the metal pick hard between my teeth and it got wedged. It took several painful minutes to extract it. No apology.

Chris is amazing: funny; perfectionist; painfree; did I mention funny; has great staff; keeps up on all the latest methods, techniques, toys; truly a great experience. If you're afraid of going to the dentist, Chris will change your mind! Oh yes, he's also quite cute!

Dr. Pickel's hygienists and staff are very friendly and helpful. The first time you go in, they take photos and you go in for a follow-up to discuss all aspects of your dental health. This is included in the price of your first visit. I haven't been to many dentists, so I don't know how the prices compare. It seemed expensive, but worth it because the work is high quality. I have had cleanings, fillings, and sealants by Dr. Pickel (pronounced pick-ELL, not pickle). Dr. Pickle is very knowledgeable and tries the simple, inexpensive ways of solving a problem first. I was convinced I had a cavity or gum problem because one tooth constantly hurt. After talking to him, I discovered it was from bruxing (grinding my teeth). He used bite paper to see where my teeth were hitting, and shaved off a tiny bit of the culprit tooth. He said if that didn't solve the problem, I could come back and be fitted for a night guard. I didn't have to, because it hasn't hurt since!

The doc did a great job. He caught a few things that my previous dental service had completely missed. He performed a bite adjustment that I now kinda wish we had not done. It was exactly what he described, but I wish I'd gone through an orthodontist for this. His work on my crowns has been fantastic. His assistants are great too. They really know what they're doing.

Historically, I have a fear of dentists related to an eating disorder. Dr. Pickel has always been wonderful and reassuring, never judgemental and a good sense of humor. I don't avoid the dentist any longer and have much better dental health following his treatment plans. I recommend him to everyone looking for a dentist. The only downside is he is not a preferred provider for my insurance, I don't care, I'll pay the money for the confidence I have in his practice.
