Dr Rye is a exceptional dentist. He loves what he does and does it great. I am extremely lucky to have him to perform dental work on me. I have had several dentists in last few years and was not satisfied with their work until I had Dr Rye . Dr Rye is a perfectionist for his work, he does whatever it takes to satisfy customer. He studied my case carefully, took measurements and provided options up front so I understand what would be involved. During the process, he listened to the customer, and made adjustments where ever necessary. I had 6 up-teeth crown work done with Dr Rye. The results are great they look so much like my natural teeth

Since having my orthotic made and using it, I have seen dramatic changes in my life. Before I had trouble sleeping, and often had headaches, and since the first few days of getting used to having it in my mouth, I have not had a single headache, and my sleeping habits have improved greatly. Typically I would stay up late, and I would have to be really tired to get comfortable enough to fall asleep; now I get comfortable very easily, and it has even improved my relationship with my wife, because now we are on the same sleep schedule. I am so thankful to Dr. Rye, and happy that he convinced me to take the plunge. I now have the most fantastic teeth one could ask for. I am constantly complimented on my teeth, and no one believes they are veneers.

About Hygienist: Also, Lou and Annie are the BEST! Each are so friendly, and always makes sure I am comfortable with what they are doing. I couldnt ask for better care! The service at the front desk with all the nice ladies like Meghan and Laurie is also incredible. Its so refreshing to actually deal with them over some other places; it really shows that they truly care about their job, and the patients that come through.

If you suffer from TMJ DO NOT seek treatment from Dr. Rye. When I moved to Virginia from Colorado I chose Dr. Rye to continue my TMJ treatment. As I sat sobbing in the dental chair due to the extreme pain I was in Dr Rye went on with his treatment as if everything was fine. When I said I wanted to stop treatment and go home he argued with me saying "but we haven't done anything yet!" He and his assistants insisted I have molds of my teeth made (for an orthotic splint) despite the fact that I could barely open my mouth, they gave me Nitrous Oxide and forced me to open so they could make the molds. He is quite impatient and is not at all compassionate. Finally, after 3 months of treatment, paid entirely out of pocket, I remained in constant pain so he referred me to an Oral Surgery group. Dry Rye took my money and did absolutely nothing for me. DO NOT SEE DR RYE FOR TMJ ISSUES!!!!!!!

While the treatment was OK. I was put through a lot of discomfort just to make things convenient for the DR. Paid $1000's and was turned over (immediately) to collections for not paying $9.00 of a bill. This was simply a mistake on my part. When I tried to explain this and get the extra $$ to them ASAP, I was treated as if I cheated them on purpose.

I can't comment on Dr. Rye's dental expertise - he seems to keep my son healthy - but his new office is drop-dead gorgeous. I want his decorator! The big-screen TV helps since the wait can be aggravatingly long. The hygienests are knowledgeable and friendly. However, the front office staff are SLOW and can be condescending - definitely a turn-off. It can take months to get an appointment. Overall, a positive experience if you don't mind waiting for appointments and at visits and can tolerate the staff.

I was surprised by the previous patient evaluation of Dr. Rye. I have been going to Dr. Rye for several years and have chosen to go out of network in order to have him as my dentist. He is an ethical man who does superior work in dentistry. He constantly updates his knowledge through continuing education and uses state-of-the-art techniques. He refers to other specialists when warranted. His new office (not at the address stated in the previous evaluation) is designed with the comfort of the patient in mind and is most attractive. I would not describe it as "like a health spa" -- this smacks of commercialism, which is contrary to his professionalism. His staff are well trained and have always been accomodating and courteous to me. Again, the "5 star hotel" comparison is not appropriate for the same reason as the "health spa" rating. I have always been satisfied with his services. I trust him completely as my dentist, as others must do as well, which may explain why he was chosen as one of Washington's best dentists in the Washingtonian magazine.

Dr. Rye does not communicate well. This lead to him filling a tooth that was borderline and had not actually developed into a cavity. He loves to fill borderline teeth, when other dentists would rather monitor them to see if they get worse over the years (as many do not). I went in for a filling on one tooth, and came out with two fillings in two teeth. I was very mad. When I asked the secretary what happend (I realized what happened when I was paying the bill), she became very evasive and defensive. Then later I learned that the exact same thing happened to someone else at Dr. Rye's office. I don't know if its a communication problem or worse, standard practice so that he makes more money. Either way, after 4 years of being his patient, I'm never going back.
