I was sent by email 45 minutes worth of pre appointment forms, asking more about my physical condition than I was asked upon entering the hospital for back and neck surgery. Spent another 20 minutes filling out more forms at his office. Much redundant financial info. Waited 30 more minutes to see assistants who did a 15 minute verbal interrogation, not pertaining to my visit. Said I need to do urine sample, (not optional and DR Cohn would not see me without) never had one in a dentist office or asked for one. I said I am 75 yrs old and have a good urologist, I refused and left. I did not appreciate their approach at all. I had gone in to have him look at a jaw problem, not have a physical exam or have my financial condition examined. Never spoke with Dr. Cohn
This entire episode was very irritating and insulting ! I doubt my family dentist will be sending many more referrals to Dr. Cohn.

Dr. Cohen keeps patients waiting for 2, 3 and 4 hours for every appointment, then spends his time filling out the insurance form so he can get paid, rather than listening to, or examining the patient. His examination is pathetic, but his opinion of himself is very high, and he will be the 1st to tell you how great he is. The other dentists in his office are great, caring, knowledgable, and don't keep patients waiting for hours.

Dr. Joseph Cohen literally destroyed my bite - my entire upper row of teeth widening my upper bite so that my upper molars no longer fit on my bottom teeth. This left me unable to close my mouth. After Dr. Cohen's defective splint for TMJ did this to me Dr. Cohen refused to fix my damages and instead he blamed me for it. He even wanted to charge me more money to grind down my teeth even though making my teeth shorter would obviously and logically NOT address the problem that my entire upper bite (ALL teeth) were made wider than my bottom teeth because of Dr. Cohen's incompetence. I was young back then so this abusive doctor was able to bully me into believing there was nothing I could do except for either pay upwards of $5,000 more or live with the ruins. I advise others to steer clear of this doctor who I posit is not only incompetent but also an abusive misogynist/sociopath. I know the topic well at this point in my life and despite having to live with a destroyed jaw and bite thanks to Dr. Cohen I completed many years in university, earned top grades and have written a number of books on the topic of sociopaths. Dr. Cohen if you care to sing a different tune, a non-abusive one (that would be a novel idea for this predatory physician), feel free to contact me sereenanightshade@gmail.com
Victim of an incorrectly made TMJ splint that destroyed my jaw and mouth and the doctor who made it not caring about what he did to me.
About Front Desk: Horrible just like Dr. Cohen was. The worst experience I could ever have imagined at an office of this kind. This doctor scammed me and my family, literally, out of a lot of money and then destroyed my jaw and bite!!!!!

Dr Cohen has helped me greatly with my pain. It's his office staff (Cave Creek) that make me want to find another doctor. Unfortunately he is one of two doctors in the valley that deal with TMJ so it puts you in a bind. At the front when I was signing in they told me I had to pay cash instead of going thru my insurance. I refused to pay cash. Then after my appointment I was pulled into the manager's office and told that I owned them monies. I asked for the bill she was accusing me of not paying (took her forever to find it) which I informed her I had already paid. She insisted that I hadn't. The bill was only printed 18 days ago! It was printed on the 4th and mailed. I paid it on the 14th. I told her I would verify online with my bank when I got home. I called her right away and informed her they had already received their monies. She then stated that after I left the office she called her billing department and confirmed I had already paid. Maybe she should have checked before she accused me! This is the worst front office I have ever seen!
About Front Desk: They never smile. They're never nice and are very rude. The office manager IVY is just as rude and accused me after my visit that I owed them monies when I did not! Worst office staff (Cave Creek). Their Tempe office staff is much nicer.

I went to Dr. Cohen for TMJ pain, and because I had such a difficult time with the staff about an error they made about a payment issue, I made an appointment to speak with him directly. He listened to my explanation, and his response was worse than extremely rude. He was arrogant, unsympathetic, and downright abusive. He refused to help me resolve the issue, and when I began to cough, he would not move away from the sink so I could get a sip of water. I took him to court, and the payment issue was settled. I intended to write him a letter, however, I was so upset I could not bring myself to address it further.

Terrible, small, hot , cramped office. Looks like an office from 1960's or so. I rated it poor, but since it is an expensive Dr., this system would not allow that rating.
Waited at least 1 hour the first time and 90 minutes the last visit..
Dr. was short tempered, rude about referring us to another specialist..
Tried to influence our decision with fear tactics about pain, side affects, graphic details etc...
No, I would not recommend this Dr. or facility.

I was in so much pain from having tmj and he was so rude, incompassionate, hurried and mean. I dreaded going to him. He made me feel like he didnt have time nor did he want to help me. He wouldnt let me complete a sentence with out him cutting me off. My first visit was 5 hours long! and they still werent done assessing my issue. I had to return 4 other times for them to finally tell me their plan. I should have talked to my family doctor about a new referall but I was afraid that would have taken me forever to get started with a new doctor. AND it cost me $30 every two weeks to see him. He required a 2 week check up as "part" of his treatment plan. CRAZY! Do not go there.
About Front Desk: Lady at the front desk doesnt smile at all and is rude. Not friendly or inviting.

My jaw was out of place and he was very understanding and quite experienced. He was very thoughtful, and I felt very comfortable with him. Cigna recommended him. The tx was a success.

I had very good luck with Dr. Cohen over the past 8 years. HOWEVER, the customer service has dropped immensely, the billing dept. went from bad to worse, and Dr. Cohen is now too busy to give the individual attention he used to give. I have changed to an office in Scottsdale which is excellent.
