I feel like he gave me bad advice about my root canal. I do not recommend going to him.

Dr Acierno is an EXCELLENT endodontist, and I thank him for the awesome job of redoing my root canal and SAVING my tooth – not an easy thing to do. One of my previous dentists performed years ago an incomplete root canal resulting in the present infection. My present and knowledgeable dentist, since he did not have the right tools, recommended Dr. Acierno for my insurance Premier Access coverage. Dr. Acierno was quick to know, after looking at the X-rays, which root canal was infected, something my knowledgeable dentist could not tell. The X-ray and the procedure happened the next day after I called, thanks to Dr. Acierno who found time to squeeze my appointment, so I did not mind having to wait a little. His performance was that of an expert: thoughtful and fast. My dentist as well as Dr. Acierno where questioning whether the tooth could be saved. Dr. Acierno was able to save my tooth, a difficult task to do. The procedure was also completely painless due to local numbing. The soreness afterwards was minimal, not requiring painkillers, and able to go back to work.

I visited Dr. Acierno in August of 2005 for my very first root canal. Needless to say, I was quite nervous. Dr. Acierno gave me little consolation and basically allowed his office manager to do most of the talking. After the procedure, I kept asking what to do if it was not successful. Then, he said that if it didn't work, he would refund my money. I was quite surprised and only a little comforted by that promise. I was more concerned about my health than the $311 copay. Perhaps coincidentally, but perhaps not, just four months later in December, 05, I had to endure open-heart surgery. The tooth never settled down. After visiting 5 other dentists for "2nd opinions", they all agreed that the root canal was not done properly and that the tooth needed to be removed. Still in pain, and believing that Dr. Acierno would make good on his promise, I decided to have the tooth extracted. When I called Dr. Acierno's office, he would not speak to me. And, that if I had anything to say to him, I should put it in writing. Because I was still recouperating from my surgery and did not want to put myself through the additional stress of a possible court battle, I simply decided to drop the issue.
