Save your money. Crown happy dentist...he will recommend crowns when not necessary. Got $3000 worth of work done, went to a new dentist and TWO major procedures lacivita did need to be RE-DONE because the crowns are leaking, dentist did not build the crown right. well guess what? insurance only covers crown replacements every 5 years, so guess who's stuck paying it??? ME!! I trusted lacivita and was told by my new dentist crowns were NOT necessary. Anna, the receptionist is RUDE and extremely unfriendly. Recap: unnecessary work, rude front desk, not open enough days. SAVE YOUR MONEY and if you want good customer service, skip this office!!!

Crown had to be done twice, then cracked in 10 months. Insurance company wouldn't pay for a new dentist to replace the crown because they are supposed to last at least 5 years. Staff at La Civita's office was very rude. It sounded like they have this happen a lot. She did not sound surprised but was very defensive. Fillings he replaced also did not bond to the tooth correctly, new dentist says it was poor workmanship. He provides 5 year guarantee. Dr. Lacivita does not give a guarantee. Although he is nice, the work is not high quality and you will have to pay to have it redone.

dr. bob has been my dentist since 1989 and he is awesome. i would highly recommend him and his staff. have had several crowns and 2 root canals (too much candy as a kid), and he is always extremely kind and gentle with every procedure. he's the best!!

About Hygienist: stephanie is also wonderful, and i always appreciate her smile, easy nature and skill.

I felt hurried into all the dental procedures in his office - I am wiser now. I had a root canal done by Dr. LaCivita in 2002/2003, which was not of a good quality according to other doctors I went to after him ( Dr Sheng Mu Clairmont, Dr Summerhayes-Miramesa, Dr Alphonso-Miramesa ). One of the doctors also suggested I try to get the money back from Dr LaCivita for his poor work- it cost me around $300 out of pocket - dont remember exact figure now. I get severe tooth ache every 6-9 months in exactly the same spot -under his root canal work and every time I go to a different doctor - to get diverse opinion on cause and treatment. The cause: root canal procedure was not complete - it left 2 mm of soft tissue under the tooth. Treatment recommended: I need a side-ways surgery to correct it. I am leaning towards footing the bill for another expensive procedure...

Very friendly office staff and dentists in Dr LaCivita's office. Hygiene in the office was not the best. The cleaning lady would touch the items I needed to put in my mouth for the x-ray, then touch the x-ray machine, with the same gloves. Separately, the office staff stated that a consultation would be covered by our insurance. It was not covered, and they then sent us a bill for it. Like most dentists, Dr La Civita's recommendations for what you need seem to be on the extensive side. I give a mildly positive review of the office because it is better than most dentists I have encountered in San Diego. I have not had major work done there.

Had several fillings done plus an "onlay". The onlay still traps foreign particles in spite of two trips back to smooth it out. His assistants seem to do most of the work including the anesthetic injections and the finish work (polishing, grinding, etc.). That bothered me. His dental hygenist was excellent though.

He will focus on how much you can pay, and worsen as much as possible his diagnose in order to perform as expensive a treatment as possible. He diagnosed 6 me nonexistent cavities, prescribed a crown job and recommended an extraction of the wisdom teeth that was totally unnecessary. The attention and manners are impersonal, himself devoting very little time to prospective patients. You spend more time being probed by his "insurance specialist" than by him. I'll be happy to provide extra details on my terrible experience with this person to whomever might ask. Please, at least ask for a second opinion from an honest dentist before allowing Mr LaCivita to do anything to you. Gonzalo Diaz (404)396-4869 gonzalo_diaz@yahoo.com

always nice and accomodating. able to get me in on a moment's notice when I'm in pain and the staff does what they can to alleviate stress and anxiety (of which I experience both). Had a root canal and even though the process sucked, it wasn't a result of the dentist. They did everything they could to make the experience as painless as possible!
