My root canal was well done, the local anesthesia was strong, my half face numbed for almost a half day. I didn't have a dental insurance, the price $995, I received 25% courtesy discount.

Dr. Keeny is an excellent dentist, and very experienced in all aspects of general dentistry. He know his limits and refers to the appropriate specialist when it is necessary. His patient skills are very good and I have been very satisfied in all my dealings with him and his staff

Great staff and Dr. Kenny is a gracious and jovial personality. He is a good dentist too!...... Always pestering me about dental stuff I absolutely need to be pestered about and they care! A+++++++++++++ recommendation

I moved away back to the desert 21 years ago and I still drive to San Diego to Dr. Keeney 2 times a year...I will until I die...he is THE BEST EVER!

Dr Keeny is very competent, friendly and does excellent work. His facility is state of the art and I leave with the work I needed complete following a pleasant and pain free experience.
The best thing I can say is that I have recommend him to my friends and family and continue to do so.
About Hygienist: Everything I've said about the Dr. I can also say about the hygienists in his office. I'm not an easy patient, but I always walk out having had a complete but gentle and pain free visit.

He is a very good dentist, and a great person. His staff is first rate and his front office is very efficient and helpful; they helped me with insurance claims and I feel they see things from the patients point of view.
Although going to the dentist is never something I look forward to, Dr. Keeny accomplishes the ultimate goal in a not unpleasant experience.
He does seem reticent to prescribe pain medications however. Having that option more available would benefit the patient but I understand Dr. Keeny's perspective on the matter.
Overall, he is a great dentist with an excellent organization to support him and the patient!

Dr. Keeny damaged my tooth during the process of filling a tiny cavity, causing the top layer of the tooth to be rough to the touch; even cotton balls snag on this tooth. He attempted to fix the tooth in a follow-up appointment I made, but there was no improvement. When I inquired about more work, he had his office manager (Diane) contact me by phone to say (condesendingly) that he would not put any more effort into polishingmy my tooth. Realistically, there should be no rough surface on a tooth after a simple filling. The filling was at the gumline and rough surface spans three-quarters of the tooth and is at its roughest in the middle. This is wrong, and so is the fact that Dr. Keeny won't fix, let along admit to a problem he created. I will go to another denist that I can trust.

I have seen Dr. Keeny for years. He has done extensive work on me including crowning my front lower teeth & realigning my front upper teeth crowns that a former San Diego dentist had botched big time in 1997. I have just moved out of San Diego & thinking of driving to San Diego (about 2 hours) to continue seeing Dr. Keeny as I still have two back teeth that need a root canal & a new crown.
I came across this site looking to find a good dentist in my current area of Orange County but still keep thinking I want to go back to Dr. Keeney. He & his staff make me so relaxed. The only less than excellent rating I could give his office is that he is very expensive when compared to other dentists in the area I have discussed having the work done by. I have only compared to other dentist as I do not currently have dental insurance through my job so all my cost is all out of pocket.
I would highly recommend Dr. Keeny to anyone who is "afraid of the dentist like me!" Kyle H- San Diego/Mission Viejo

Dr. Keeny is kind and gentle and takes a conservative approach that I like. All his staff are friendly, efficient and stable. They take care to control any pain and to make you feel comfortable. I believe the charges are too high and they take few affordable insurance plans so my co-pays with Kaiser Delta Dental were still very high. Also they demand an expensive panorama x-ray.
