Would avoid this dentist. Refused to clean my teeth saying I needed $400 deep cleaning. Gave me list of literally $5,000 of work to be done above my insurance costs and pressured me to start right away. I went for a second opinion and did NOT need deep cleaning and only 2 crowns instead of the 4 he tried to sell. He was not friendly and the receptionist was weird and unhelpful. Glad I went with my instincts and did not proceed with treatment. The legitimate work I did need would have cost a lot more if I stayed with this guy.

My previous dentist, who has just retired, has sold his practice to this dentist. A very fine dentist, but unlike my previous dentist he does not clean the patient's teeth himself, which is standard practice for the hygienist. Further, unlike the notion of the dentist as a craftsperson, which was the case with my previous dentist, there is an emphasis on encouraging patients to undertake preventative procedures, and less of a sense of maintenance, which I assume is more time-intensive and does not bring in enough money.
About Hygienist: Jody, the hygienist, did a very capable job, but clearly was not trained as a dentist. This means that the gestures or the ways in which she uses the instruments were somewhat awkward, sloppy, and less than precise in scrapping some of the tartar off of my teeth. The overall nature of her work was less than professional as she seemed to struggle to accomplish the work, and did not have a sense of mastery over the task before her.
