My 13 year old child had a bicycle accident on Thursday afternoon. I walked into Austin Childrens Dentistry on Friday morning and was seen on the spot. They focused on getting my child treated , that says a GREAT deal about Dr. Updyke and his staff. They were able to take my child out of pain and even took it a step further and asked if we had gone to the emergency room to check for any head trauma. I was in between insurances and the did not hesitate to see us, money was not their concern. I will be taking all my children regularly to see Dr.Updyke.

The service is great, I just wish the waiting room and patient consulting room was more updated. It could stand to be more modern and fresh looking. Are there no fish in the fish tank? Didn't see any, but I liked the tank... Great bunch of people working there... young, energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable.

My kids have been seeing Dr. Updyke for 12 years. He is very easy going & works within my budget and timeframe. He tells you whether a recommendation is medically necessary or just for cosmetic purposes. Dr. Updyke's super friendly staff is always running ontime, and it's pretty easy to get an appointment. We've seen Dr. Updyke for routine care, emergency care, orthodonture - everything! He stresses preventative orthodonture, which has saved us much money and heartache. My kids even like going to the dentist! (OK - that could be the videogames in the examining area....)

My son has seen Dr. Updyke for many years for his dental needs. He loves it there. There is entertainment for him and caring staff to help out. The front desk is polite and attentive and I rarely have issues with my insurance with the office. I recommend Dr. Updyke's office to anyone concerned with their kids' dental experience.

My first son was a patient of Dr. Updyke back in 1982. He had to get four crowns and four fillings when he was only three years old, and Dr. Updyke recommended we do this as outpatient surgery so he wouldn't be traumatized every time he needed to go to a dentist. We agreed, and all was well. Dr. Updyke even called me at home later in the day to check and see how my son was doing. About 16 years later I took my daughter who was four at the time to Dr. Updyke for a checkup, and he found she had some cavities that needed to be filled. He recommended using versed to calm her while he was doing some of the fillings, and I agreed to that. As it turned out, my daughter did not do well with this. When I called to schedule her next appointment for the rest of the fillings I asked that it be done without versed, and the lady in his office with whom I spoke said he would not do the work if she didn't take the versed. I decided to take her to my own dentist to complete what needed to be done, and he did just fine without giving her any drugs.
