There are very few Dentists with 'magic fingers,'- the ability to work in a small space with extreme speed and dexterity. This allows them to not only do an excellent job, but also to accomplish multiple tasks all at the same time... just such a rare dentist is Dr. Cane. Also: excellent color matching with ceramic (crowns) as well as chair-side mixed acrylics.

About Hygienist: Not rated; don't recall.

I love Dr. Cane and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist. The staff in the office is warm and friendly. He is also a conservative treater and works to use the least invasive treatment possible, saving valuable teeth. I've been going to the office since I was a child (initially saw another DDS who has since retired)... changed offices when I moved away and then returned as soon as I was back in the area. Good dentists are hard to come by so I am happy to have him (and the rest of the team).

I've gone to Dr. Cane since I was born. Not only is he a very personable and friendly person, but is highly skilled and a perfectionist about his work. He makes an effort to make patients feel comfortable. I've had several root canals and fillings from Dr. Cane, and I've never had any problems with them. While he is a little more expensive for me, due to not being part of the Blue Cross Network, the extra cost is well worth knowing that he will catch any potential problems during examinations and, if work is required, will be done quickly and very well. All of the hygienists are also very good and thurough. Can't recomend this office enough!

I had such a pleasant and painless experience! The staff makes you feel so comfortable. I have seen the same employees for over 10 years! This says a lot about Dr. Cane as a person.

Dr. Cane is very caring. Previously I had some bad dental care, and Dr Cane got my mouth back in order. He tells you what he will do, and doesn't try to do things that are not necessary.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cane for more than 20 years. There have been a few short periods when I tried other dentists due to my employer's insurance coverage, but none have offered the quality of work, skill or sensitivity to my personal needs. This is the only dentist that has been able to give me a shot without causing undue stress and pain. This is important because I have a serious aversion of needles. Hope this helps

I have been a patient of Dr. Cane for more than two decades. He was highly recommended by two of my co-workers. One had a big fear of dentistry, but felt very comfortable with Dr. Cane. I've never had a problem with dentistry, and have never used pain killer for a procedure. Many dentists do not feel comfortable working without anesthesia, and many will refuse to do so. If the two of us feel comfortable with Dr. Cane, I find it hard to figure who wouldn't. Dr. Cane is very intelligent and professional, and teaches dentistry in addition to practicing. He is up on all the latest techniques and can address any concern thoroughly. His facilities are what you might expect from a Berkeley doctor. They are not glitzy or pretentious, but they are well equipped for the job. Dr. Cane does not work with all insurance plans, since some dictate terms, equipment or labs that do not meet his standards. His fees come out to nominally higher than what my insurance covers, but only by a few dollars. His hygienists are also very good. I now live in Union City but still go to Berkeley to use him. I made the mistake of trying a dentist at the Fremont Dental Group after I moved, but I learned that a good dentist is worth the trip.
