Worst Experience: He is dishonest and unethical. Said I need a root canal and I did not. BEWARE!

Dr Smith is nice, HOWEVER, the x-rays they take are not the quality of my regular dentist. It was extremely painful and the actual xray was not nice and crystal clear like the one I had of the same exact tooth. I had a root canal which was pricey a year ago and he says to come back in 3 months to see if MORE of my bone is degrading around the tooth. I was already on antibiotics and apparently he did not read anything on my chart and offered me more. I told him I was already taking some and he commented that those were stronger, which made me wonder why he would give me a lesser version of antibiotics. I had an abscess and maybe he did not see the swelling but the dentist who I work by did. He said that the root canal could not be redone. The dentist near me said that I need to give this tooth attention in about a month. Whilst, Dr Smith said to wait 3 months. He said the entire tooth would have to go and the other dentist said they could do a partial extraction. Why I have an infection is unknown to me but something doesn't seem right.

About Front Desk: The front office staff is very nice. Part of having a dental office is to keep updated with the equipment that is able to help with a diagnosis. I drove all the way there and ended up just taking an xray that I had already done (at another office- that this office could not pull up in the treatment room. He wouldn't even look at it. I am actually going to see another endodontist to get a 3rd opinion. My beef with this place is that they need better equipment and I feel like he is trying to get me to wait over a year so that I have to pay again on the same tooth. He should offer to fix the issue and not just tell me to wait. If I am reading correctly, if you get an infection in the bone or face, this can be very serious.

After my most recent root canal, I did not need to take any pain killers. My husband had a similar experience. We consider Dr. Smith a very capable and caring dentist.

I had a root canal in June 2010. It was very painful and had to go back several times. At one point I almost pulled the tooth out myself because It hurt so bad. He also overdosed me on the numbing medicine and I became sick and had a bruise on my check form it. After all of that the root canal failed and I need to have it redone but I refuse to go back to him

I like Dr.Smith personally very much. However, he put me through the worst dental experience in my entire lifetime. I was recommended by my Dentist (whom I don't like personally) for a routine root canal. Every bit of literature I read about the root canal process indicated that it is a 2 stage process. First the tooth is cleaned and some medicine is put in it to kill any infection. Then you come back to get the filling to protect the canal and tooth until you get your crown. Dr Smith did not perform the root canal on my tooth in the 2 step process that all root canal literature indicates you should nor put in the post and build up to prepare for the crown. Even his appointment worker was surprised when she started to schedule my 2nd visit and the Dr said, he was finished . I ended up with the most horrendous, excuriating pain which after a year of this torture i still have. I had a root canal on an adjoining healthy tooth that cost me an extra $600 for a crown, an apiceotomy to remove a huge abcess that formed over the tooth, numerous rounds of antibiotics and many office visits for over a year. Finally, the Dr told me to get my tooth pulled and buy a bridge. I spent over $1500 to lose my tooth.

Dr Smith made my Root Canal procedure so much easier than I had been told to expect. It was no worse than a regular filling. He was gentle and clearly described what he was doing so I was at ease. I highly recommend his services.

Dr. Smith was an unknown to me, but I picked him after reading these reviews. I have a total thumbs up. He efficiently and inexpensively (compared to experience of my friends) did a root canal in two appointments, fully explained the "whys and wherefores", and is personable, as is his office. I never felt like I was on an assembly line. As one previous commentor said, it is too bad (for us) that he doesn't practice a few more general dentistry matters.

Dr. Smith was extremely friendly and helped me relax while he was performing a root canal. Overall the staff was very helpful in discussing the insurance coverage and explaining my options. The procedure was completed successful and satisfied with the outcome.

I have a pretty high pain threshhold. The first root canal I had from Dr. Smith hurt a lot, but I went back for the second one a couple of years later, thinking the first was maybe a fluke. It wasn't. I won't go back to Dr. Smith.

This is one of those endodontists that you wish did plain old general denistry as well. He would be my 1st choice for that. Not only did he take care of some root canals for me, he came in on a sunday when one did not stop hurting. Above & beyond the call of duty says it all!
