I highly recommend Dr Eickenhorst and consider him the best endodontist in Austin. I had a root canal done in 2008. I did not feel a thing! Not even the needle. A previous reviewer complained about the time it takes, but root canals are time consuming. I wish they could be done in one appointment, but have been told it is impossible. If I ever need another, he is the one I will call. His friendly personality always put me at ease.

Dr. Eickenhorst is very nice and considerate. His charges, while not cheap, did not seem excessive to me for this kind of work, and they were clearly explained, with two options given for what the work would cost, depending on what he encountered when he started working. And he charged me the lesser of the two fees. I'd definitely recommend him.

Dr. Eickenhorst likes to keep his office COLD; take a jacket unless you want to be shivvering while he fixes up your root canals. He takes a lot of x-rays (which i really do not like) of the tooth he is working on, and takes a lot of time over several appointment to do the root canal. So many appointments means that the cost of the procedure is high. I am not certain if this is necessary, or if he is just a perfectionist. Follow-up appoinments were a complete pain. I travel as a consultant and he refuses to see patients for followups in the morning then I could not complete the followups.

I am on limited income. I went to have a root canal. He drilled and found that my tooth was split and he then stopped work and started making arrangements for me to see another dentist that day to get my tooth extracted. My jaw was already numb and I asked him to pull the tooth. He would NOT pull my tooth, yet charged me $300 for the non-service. The dentist he referred me to charged me another $300 because of the short notice. Since I had to first be referred to Julie in the first place, a tooth extraction cost me $700. FRANKLY I THINK THIS IS UNFORGIVALBLE!! But there is nothing I can do about it but write this review.
