After many years of not taking care of my teeth, I finally made a trip to see my General Dentist and, after I was told that I had Gum disease and would need to see a Periodontist, I still took my time because of a bad childhood experience. After my 1st visit with Dr Spencer all my fears were gone. The office is nice and pleasant from the staff at the front desk to his dental assistant's. Dr Spencer is very informative and educated me on not only gum disease but the effects that it could have on my over all health. Although, I didn't have any insurance I expressed this to Dr Spencer and he gave me a discount and even worked out a payment plan with me. After my treatment I returned to worked in a couple of days and have never felt better. Thank you to Dr Spencer and his Staff for helping me save my teeth!

Dr. Spencer is very focused on treatment and I received EXCELLENT treatment despite my fear, concern over cost, and concern about all this business about "bedside manner" or other comments I read before I went to see him and after. All you have to do is stop him in his tracks and ask him what you want to know, or ask his staff. It's all about learning how to deal with people. I want Dr. Spencer to fix my teeth, gums, and help me keep my teeth, and if you need the same, go see him. The fact that I can now CHEW and am WITHOUT pain -- and trust me I had significant bone loss -- is a testament. For once I am actually looking forward to my next appointment. His front office and dental staff are exceptional. I'll keep Dr. Spencer as long as he'll have me. They will work with you on cost -- just ask. My first exam (and trust me these usually HURT) -- I DID NOT FEEL A THING. The costs are high but no higher than anyone else I suppose.

About Hygienist: I've seen them all -- they are excellent, caring.

I cannot recommend Dr. Spencer. He does not communicate effectively and is not up on the latest treatment plans that can truly save teeth. He only offers the same outdated surgery that harms the appearance of your teeth. He failed to check up regularly to prevent further tooth loss even though I was in his office every six months. He speaks way too fast and does not spend time explaining facts in terms that could be understood. More importantly his recommendations were too radical with no thought or consideration of what I wanted as a patient.

I was rather nervous about having a procedure done, but Dr. Spencer answered all of my questions very clearly and thoroughly. The best thing about Dr. Spencer is that he is very experienced, and as a result, extremely good at what he does. I had very successful results, which to me, is the most important thing. If you are serious about saving your teeth, I definitely recommend Dr. Spencer.

Dr. Spencer was great! Sure he was all business and spoke very fast but he was polite and knew what he was talking about. The staff was very friendly and everyone answered all my questions. The procedure (bone graft) only took 45 minutes and he was great at explaining every single step as he went through the procedure. The cost was high but that's what insurance was for! Definitely would recommend him to anyone.

Never having experience with another periodontist, I believe Dr. Spencer is good at what he does. I asked a lot of questions about my surgery and he answered them well. He was also very obviously teaching the technicians in his office throughout my examination, explaining why certain things were necessary and what everything meant.

About Hygienist: That said, I was extremely disappointed in his office staff and records management. This office is completely paper-based, which seems outdated. They also don't have digital x-rays they're all individually taken and developed. My first visit was an examination after a referral from my dentist. The technician who took my x-rays (at least 15 or so of them) was extremely inexperienced. It turns out he was an "exturn" (a college student who's trying out the job, likely for no or little pay). I'm fine with that concept, as I have more patience than most patients, but they probably should've told me that beforehand because the guy put many of the x-rays in wrong, causing some cuts in my mouth and another technician had to redo several of them. I was overprescribed medications for my surgery, and had to call multiple times to complain that I still wasn't feeling better 5 days after my surgery. Both times I called, the doctor and nurse's advice were filtered through the scheduling woman I couldn't speak directly with either the doctor or the nurse to get straightforward answers or advice. Their solution was to prescribe me even more medication, even though that was the original problem. This was disappointing, and should never happen. Ultimately, the results were fine, but the process was not great. The prescriptions should be more customized, both for a patient's size and pain tolerance... not everyone has a panic attack when they have oral surgery.

I had an exam and root scaling and planing. The cost was somewhat covered by insurance. Although Dr. Spencer was somewhat friendly, office staff and assistants are much too busy, impersonal, and insensitive to individual needs, and exam rooms were very cold. I would not recommend this doctor.

He is an amazing doctor, and I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge and expertise in his field. He was so sweet and gentle, and I never once felt uncomfortable! I highly recommend him to anyone!

I was referred to him via my new dentist having moved here 2 years ago. The office staff is very professional. Many of the hygienists/assistants are fresh out of school, seemingly in training. They were all very sweet and pleasant. The doctor seems knowledgeable; however, he is lacking in bed side manner. He communicates with the assistants as though he is training them which tends to make me nervous. While he does answer my questions, he seems dogmatic when it comes to his treatment suggestions. He seems a bit impatient when questioned, but is very nice (not at all rude). He seems to be in a hurry. I had not been to a periodontist in 2-3 years. But had had osseous surgery less than 3 years prior. He did a full mouth exray without seeing me or probing. He then probed and was very rough. My gums were throbbing when he finished. He pressed so hard that it absolutely hurt!! I had never had that experience before; although I have been treated by periodontist for years. He scheduled me for root planing and scaling immediatley. He did all four quadrants and was very rough. He scheduled me for another full round of osseous surgery without even checking to see how the other procedure worked out. I am concerned as I didn't expect surgery.

About Hygienist: The doctor did the procedure. He was rough, but I felt he did a very thorough job! They feel very clean.
