Just read the article. Sad to hear the news about Dr. Sims. The Best and only honest Dentist in town. My oldest daughter is 18 now. Me and my wife took our daughter to about 5 other dentist around Las Vegas and Henderson area for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th opinions. Things just didn't sound right with all the other dentist, all that wanted to do is surgery on my 2 year old daughter at the time. Dr. Sims is the only dentist that disagreed with the diagnosed of having surgery. The problem was exactly what Dr. Sims thought it was. No surgery and all was good for my daughter. Well 6 months after we rejected the surgery. Our insurance dropped Dr. Sims because he didn't agree with having to do the surgery. That's a true man and we will always be grateful for Dr. Sims. If our daughter would have had the surgery they couldn't guarantee us her safety. They told us about the dangers of the surgery. The other dentist and the insurance company tried to pressure us into having the surgery. Even telling us that our daughters teeth will forever be mess up. No surgery and my daughters teeth are perfect. We need more Dentist and Doctors in this town like Dr. Sims. Finally a true dentist that took care of his patients. Thank You, Dr. Sims.......

We went to Dr. Sims in 2000 with our first daughter, and hated every minute of it. Had to go for 2 years due to our insurance. Unfortunately made the choice to go back in 2010 with both our daughters, hoping that with the addition of Dr. Clark things would have improved. WORSE. The hygenist and Dr. Clark were so rude, short tempered, it was the worst pediatric care we'd ever received, EVER. My 6 year old was screaming because of sores she had on & around her mouth, and both the hygenist & Dr. Clark kept saying is "It doesn't hurt" & "Help me help you." Who says that to a 6 year old?? I bit my tongue (which isn't easy) and let him finish the procedure. It took her all of 4 minutes to do a complete cleaning, rude as hell the whole time. My 13 year old could not believe how they treated her sister, and rushed around to finish. They rushed thru every procedure so that they could leave on time, turining off the lights & cleaning the restroom before we were out the door. This is just one mother's opinion, but do reasearch and read the reviews before you book your appointment. Dr. Derek MacLean at MacLean Dental is AMAZING, and so is every one on his staff, so worth coming out of pocket for!! Good luck if you try this place!

The office is very nice, staff is very friendly, the waiting area has things to keep your children occupied while they wait. Only complaint was Dr. Sims yanking my daughters tooth with no warning, no pain relief, no numbing... just bam, tooth gone. I guess it would have been more anxiety if he would have warned us both we had no idea he was about to do that. She now gets a little nervous before we go there. Other than that one incident he has been great.

He is a good dentist. Sometimes he doesn't explain everything to the parent, and does xrays etc. without asking and the insurance doesn't cover them, etc. - I learned go back with your child and ask questions! He also likes to do a lot of extra procedures - some or wonderful, but take a moment to evaluate. One thing I absolutely hate is the automated reminder call system - it is relentless and drives me nuts!!!!

Dr. Sims does not interact well with parents. BE SURE YOU GO BACK WITH YOUR CHILD - they will not ask or invite you so just go! There is virtually no space between kids so if one child is upset or scared it will upset your child. ASK QUESTIONS - it is the only way to find out things and watch what they are doing or they will do extra and expensive xrays, etc. that your insurance plan most likely will not cover, and if like me and you don't have insurance anymore ... He likes to do many extras - they may be helpful in avoiding braces etc. but don't be pressured - take time to evaluate... it is high pressure. There has not been a time that I have gone in that I have not been told my child needs something more. I want to do what is best of my kids but costs add up quickly!!! And I do not have a money tree growing in my back yard. His automated reminder systems can drive a saint nuts - it is relentless and annoying... what happened to simply mailing a reminder card!

When we arrived at Dr. Sims office we were told he was running over an hour late. When dealing with small children (and trying to coordinate meals / nap times) it was inexcusable that we were not given a call beforehand. When we finally got back to the treatment area (where the children are literally on top of each other, hearing the cries and discomfort of the other patients) Dr. Sims was very abrupt and rushed. He made little to no effort to engage my 3 year old son. And although his prices were cheaper on the dental work needed (this was a second opinion) I was horrified when Dr. Sims showed me the procedure room where he uses a head restraint, papoose board, heavy sedation and a terrifying 'hand over mouth' technique if the child will not stop crying! AND parents are not allowed in the procedure room Needless to say we did not use Dr. Sims. RUN, don't walk, away from this dentist!

I took my 5 yr old (who is diabetic) to see Dr. Simms. He was very detailed with the options offered and what occured for each type of procedure covering every aspect from begining to post-procedure care. Due to a trip we had already planned Dr. Simms and his staff fit us right in to his busy schedulethe same day working around my son's diabetes. Dr. Simms' facilities are immaculate to include very comfortable living room like seating, and an entertainment area for kids of all ages from video games to reading books. The staff were outstanding and the equipment quite up-to-date and very modern. The recovery room was a nice touch, lights were turned down to accomodate for the light sensitivity of the children after sedation. Price breakdown of services performed showed it to be a little on the high side, but several different payment options outside of medical/dental insurance seemed to be available from what I had overheard by his very caring staff. The procedure was as painless as could possibly be. Dr. Simms himself is a softspoken person who is quite focused in his area of expertise, which may come across as a bit odd in a way but the best usually do. In short I wished Dr. Simms was my dentist as well...Highly Recommended!!!

My child has only been to Dr. Sims once, but he made the procedure as easy as possible for my son. The level of competency and caring was beyond reproach. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I took my 5 year old there for a first visit and found Dr. Sims to be very cold and lack bedside manner. As expected, my child was nervous of the unknown and instead of being reassuring, Dr. Sims seemed to be flustered when she began to cry and at one point "snapped" at my child. He lacks patience in dealing with children and it's reflected by some of his negative comments. His written procedures for filling cavities appear to be very barbaric, as they want permission from the parents to exercise a "hand over mouth" method of quieting the child in the event the child begins to cry, and of course the parents are not allowed in the room. That was my first and LAST time my child will visit Dr. Sims.
