Dr. Tan's office is the best dental office I've ever been to. He and his staff know me even when I arrive without an appointment. The desk staff are friendly and generally on top of billing and insurance. The hygienist I see even inspires me to floss (not an easy task). Dr. Tan replaced a chipped filling after a cleaning - the filling replacement was unscheduled but he found 20 minutes to fit me in to the schedule. They recently upgraded their office to reduce the paper and had a patient appreciation campaign. My husband and I love the t-shirts.

Dr Tan is the best thing I've ever done for my teeth. (The second best would be my Sonicare, which I purchased after his recommendation.) Their offices are state of the art which translates into a pain free experience. They are also all around geniuinely nice people that I look forward to seeing each visit.

Dr. Tan has been my dentist since 1995. I have nothing but praise for him and his staff. He is knowledgeable, skilled and stays up on the latest research and procedures. He is very personable and spends the necessary time with his patients to explain techniques and assure that procedures are as painless as possible. He has even followed up with phone calls after procedures to make sure I was doing well and not having any complications.

Dr. Tan's staff couldn't be better. They are professional, friendly and have great senses of humor. Lorna, the hygienist, cleans my sensitive teeth with such care that I rarely have any pain. She has helped me stay on top of my home care with great advice. Dental assistants Nancy and Yerca are terrific and work seamlessly with Dr. Tan. The desk staff is also excellent. Both Sophia and Maria are always pleasant, friendly and helpful in every way.

It is a pleasure to visit the office, which is beautifully decorated, and see these wonderful people. I know that I will be in extremely competent, gentle hands. I always leave the office with a smile on my face and because they take such good care of me, I hopefully will be able to continue smiling with the same set of teeth for the rest of my life.

I came to Dr. Tan after 11 (!!) years of total lack of dental care due to some extremely traumatic experiences in Europe. He and his amazing staff performed a thorough root planing (deep cleaning), replaced all my old silver fillings and generally got my mouth back into excellent shape. I live on the peninsula and commute more than 45 minutes to be able to get my teeth cleaned by Lorna, his extremely thorough, friendly and professional dental hygienist.

The office is top notch, both from the decor and the equipment point of view. Even though my insurance only covers a fraction of the bill, I would not go anywhere else. I have also recommended numerous friends and have heard nothing but great feedback.

Compared to other dentists that I have been to, Dr. Tan and his staff don't even compare. His office is centrally located on the 14th floor of a beautiful building in the finanical district with partial views of the bay. When he opened the practice he remodled the space from the ground up so it is a very welcoming, clean, spa-like setting, and Dr. Tan wouldn't have it any other way. He and his staff hold the highest standard for professionalism while at the same time making you feel like family. His facilites are state-of -the-art and they include comfortable dental chairs, educational videos, and the most amazing dental tools I have ever seen! Dr. Tan even offers you a set of headphones to listen to music while the infamous drill is being run! He is going to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible and that you understand everything he is doing. Lorna, his hygienist, is absolutely amazing. I learned more from her in one cleaning than anyone else. She explains everything she is doing and even lets you hold a mirror so that you can see what she is describing! Over-all, Dr.Tan and his staff are like family to me, that's how comfortable I am in his office and that's how much I trust them.

The staff is efficient, knowledgeable, very warm and friendly (a rare combination). Dr. Tan, his assistants and the hygienist are extremely gentle and every precaution is taken to minimize any pain...love that anaesthetic gel...I actually look forward to my quarterly cleaning. When my teeth need any 'procedures', Dr. Tan always presents the latest technology for my treatment options. They have educated me more about my dental health than any other dentists in the past. I highly recommend this Dr. Tan's family of staff to everyone. ;)

Dr. Tan and his kind staff are real professionals. They are very kind, and even better, they make you feel right at home by being honest, funny, and very clear about your procedure and options.

I always felt that I could trust Dr. Tan, and that I would get an honest answer from him and his hygenist, Lorna.

Dr. Tan really has improved my dental health, has given me a new opinion about my teeth, and has never once given me a lecture. I hate a dental lecture.

I would recommend Dr. Tan to all of my friends (and have)!

I love Dr. Tan, the assistants (Yerca-the best ever), the hygienist (Lorna-the best ever), and his office staff (Sophia-the best ever). I really feel that they are all very experienced and thorough, and that they truly care about their patients. Dr. Tan seems to be very skilled and has a keen eye for aesthetics. The front desk has always been very helpful with scheduling and insurance billing. They all go out of their way to be kind. Honestly it is about as pleasant an experience as you can get going to the dentist. Just so you know, I have had about a million fillings done there-all are doing fine and look great. Nothing else besides cleanings. (I don't know how their prices compare to other dentists in the area.)

Dr. Tan and his staff are very talented, professional, and courteous. The office is immaculately clean and stylish. His staff is very organized and well trained. They are effective communicators and always remind you via phone and postcard about your appointments. The state of the art equipment helps ensure that the best care is given. Cleanings: you better floss regularly! Recommended dental work: He is honest and tends to recommend work sooner rather than later. I had excellent results on a top, front tooth crown. Dr. Tan and his staff matched the color exactly and I honestly cannot tell the difference. The entire procedure was as stress free as it could possibly be. Dr. Tan is a perfectionist and you are in good hands when you entrust your smile to him.

I have been seeing Dr. Tan for the past 10 years, even before he started the practice he has now. He has, by far, been the best dentist I have ever had. Not only is he extremely knowledegeable in his field, he takes the time to keep up with the latest dental techniques via continuing education to augment his degree from, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. I have referred many of my friends to Dr. Tan and they all have thanked me for the great referral. One of my friends had extensive dental work done and it was obvious that he was really happy with the results. Dr. Tan's staff are knowledgeable and friendly and his convenient location in the San Francisco financial district make it easy for most people to get to. I no longer work in San Francisco but still go out of my way to see Dr. Tan because of the quality of his work and because I trust him witn my dental care. Keep up the great work!

I have been Dr. Tan's patient since moving to the Bay Area 8 years ago. I have received cleanings, fillings, on-lays, and crowns; always with professional and caring service. In a concerted effort to save my teeth from gum deterioration, Dr. Tan recommended an excellent orthodontist, and they worked together while I had braces to train me in effective methods of dental care in order to retain my teeth for the remainder of my life. My most recent visit has confirmed the success of these efforts, with my best dental review since childhood.

Dr. Tan's staff is excellent, both in their services and their friendliness. Several of my friends are also patients, and we have all agreed that the new hygienist, Lorna, makes a wonderful contribution. In addition to her professional service, she provides educational information in new ways that have allowed us to improve our dental care, and she does this without a hint of preachiness.

I continue to recommend Dr. Tan and his staff to friends, and to others who are searching for a dentist.

Dr. Paul Tan is a godsend. I wish I'd found him years ago...

Since my childhood (40+ years ago) I've dreaded going to the dentist. All my previous dentists were incompetent, insensitive, lax, sadistic, or some combination of the above. So I simply stopped going to the dentist for about 10 years. That led to cavities developing -- I could feel the pain and knew I had to see a dentist. A friend referred me to Dr. Tan, but I postponed going for months.

When I finally visited Dr. Tan (in 2003) it was unlike anything I'd experienced before. Dr. Tan and all of his staff are very friendly, welcoming, and genuine. All are very knowledgeable and professional. During my initial cleaning and exam, I was impressed by how sensitive, thorough, and professional Dr. Tan is. He repeatedly asked how I was doing and explained what he was doing and why.

Later, I returned for fillings. Dr. Tan repeatedly checked to make sure I was out of pain and comfortable. He has a unique combination of strength and sensitivity. And when he completed his work, I had a better-looking smile that makes me feel good every day. I realize that sounds corny, but it's something I've waited a long time to be able to say. Highly recommended.

I have had the privilege of receiving dental care from Dr. Paul Tan and his staff for over eleven years. During that time, I have referred several friends, all of whom rave about their experiences.

From the moment you walk in, Dr. Tan's office generates a feeling of calm and trust. The receptionists are friendly. The waiting area is lovely. A three-foot stone fountain provides the relaxing sound of water, the couch and chairs are comfy, and brightly colored art decorates the walls. Immediately, you feel as though you've left the city and walked into a quiet, healing world.

Dr. Tan himself is knowledgeable, articluate, and accommodating to the needs of individual patients. He explains procedures in clear terms, gives patients a Sony Walkman to listen to while he works on their teeth, and has a positive, encouraging style. When I found out Dr. Tan's father is also a healer, I was not surprised.

It is rare in our fast-paced, often impersonal world that you find a place where you feel safe and truly confident you are getting the best medical treatment available. The offices of Dr. Paul Tan, in downtown San Francisco, is one of those special places.

If you go for one appointment, you'll stay for years. I did.

It has been my pleasure to be a patient of Dr. Tan for the past nine years. I was never pleased with any dentist I had been associated with prior and feel myself lucky that someone mentioned Dr. Tan. When you step into his lovely downtown office you will feel relaxed with the view of beautiful orchids and the faint sound of a fountain which reminds me of a gentle countryside brook or stream. The office staff greets you warmly and it seems I never view more than a couple pages of a magazine before I am seated to be seen. While all of the staff are friendly and perform their duties very well, it is Dr. Tan that keeps me coming back (and without fear!). He has such a charming and pleasant manner about him, very skilled at his profession ( I have yet to feel "the pinch" he says is coming when he must give me an anesthetic shot ) and without a doubt the most gentle touch. He will explain anything you ask of him and will do so in terms that one can understand easily. I have had many long and involved procedures in the past with fine results and am thankful and glad that Dr. Tan has been there for me. Without any reservation I highly recommend the dental office of Dr. Paul Tan.

Dr Tan and I go back almost ten years. I came in with alot of very expensive and intrusive work that needed to be done. I have suffered from years of severe! dental phobia. With his compassionate help and his wonderful, diverse staff I was able to complete treatments I never thought I could do.

Paul will work with you to reach your dental health goals. My feeling is that he will do what it takes to create a strategy that works, and if this means being patient and waiting for you, then so be it.

I worked very closely with him and his colleague to finish two dental implants, something I resisted for most of the nine years I have known him. I would recommend both Dr. Tan, his colleague and the procedure to anyone.

I can only say the best, give the highest scores...

I assure you, my 5-star rankings are completely based on my 7 years of experience with the most gentle, competent, thorough, and caring practice I have ever run across. One could not have a cleaning or dental work session with him and not be pleased. The experience starts when you walk in the door of his impeccable offices. It really does have a soothing, zen-spa atmosphere, with orchids in the light, airy windows; lovely artwork; soothing mint-green colors and fountain. Friendly reception staff who remember you. But most important, the handling by Dr. Tan and his staff. Before coming to Dr. Tan, I had been to dentists for complex veneer and crown work in both LA, NY & SF, and had come to dread them all. Dr. Tan is so gentle. His anesthetic shots are given with great care. He and his personable staff make sure that you are comfortable (walkman on hand, of course). He is very articulate & patient in explaining exactly what you need to know. His tiny camera enables you to see, close-up on a TV screen, precisely what is being focused on. He follows up with you by phone after complex procedures. And the results are gorgeous -- he goes extra lengths to match color on crowns. His hygenists clean very gently! Top-notch.
