Case Description
I am in desperate need of an affordable solution to my current dental woes. I have two badly decayed teeth that have needed root canals for some time now. They cause me pain every minute of the day and I am unable to eat food as the teeth are in the back of my mouth. I also have two impacted wisdom teeth that have been slowly pushing all of my teeth together. The pain comes and goes in waves for these things. I would really love some adivce on who to see, who would actually do the procedures, and who costs the least amount. Also what I should do in the mean time.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:

If the badly decayed teeth have been that way for so long, they may be beyond saving. You mention "affordable" in your request, so need to be frank with you. To save any particular tooth, it will cost anywhere from $900-$1200 for a root canal, and another $800-$1100 for a crown afterwards. Keep that in mind while making your decision(s). My office, and others, have interest-free financing options available as we realize the expenses involved - especially with the paltry benefits available via dental insurance these days. Your best option would be a dental exam by a general dentist to determine if the teeth in question are able to be saved or not. If you tell me what part of the metro area you live in, I might be able to refer you to a competent general dentist (we specialize in root canal treatment in our office).
