Last week, the first molar on the bottom (closest to front of mouth) cracked while eating. This tooth had already been having a toothache for a few months before. The molar directly above it also has an occasional toothache, but isn't cracked. The broken part hasn't come all the way out/off of the tooth, and I cannot tell visually if the vertical crack reaches into the gum or not. This tooth has a filling from many years ago. I'm worried (after reading this forum) that this is fairly serious and may require a root canal procedure and possibly some finishing procedure on top of that. Perhaps with today's technology teeth can be fixed/fused back together, I hope so. I'm a graduate student on a budget: no insurance, although I do have a discount plan called "Aetna Vital Savings", so cost is important. I would greatly appreciate any advice on the next step to take, a good dentist with reasonable prices for grad student budgets, and hopefully involved in the Vital Savings discount plan (unless using these plans is a bad idea for one reason or another).
