Case Description
I have had many dental procedures in the past, and have found them extremely painful, despite the use of "Novacaine". As I age, I am finding that much of the old work is no longer working well, and will need work. Ideally, I would like to find a conservative dentist who will replace what is necessary (but not necessarily everything), who believes that my past experiences have been traumatically painful, and who would be willing to work with me to resolve the pain issues. I do not want to be "knocked out" for dental work; I just do not want to experience horrendous pain during them.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I grew up in Skokie, and have practiced in Des Plaines for almost 24 years. My philosophy definately leans toward conservativism with my patients. We treat only what is absoutely necessary first, and then deal with other issues based on the patient''''s needs, desires and financial situation. While we use local anesthesia [a "novocaine- like" numbing solution], we also have nitrous oxide ["laughing"] gas available for your additional comfort. Our friendly, low-stress environment will make your experience as pleasant as possible!

I certainly understand your hesitation to returning to the dentist, as I too have experienced similar care as a child. I believe it is important for my patients to be comfortable while in our care. That can be a combination of anesthetic, nitrous oxide, and/or the right music in the background. My approach to treatment is to consider what treatment needs to be done and find suitable approaches to care appropriate for the treatment needs and the concerns you have (i.e. conservative work, not unnecessary treatment, completed in a comfortable, painless environment). I hope you will consider me and my office for your dental care. We are located in Glenview, close to Skokie. Patient comfort is one of our overlying concerns. I look forward to meeting you.

Hi! There is "usual wear and tear" with fillings as they age. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, including fillings. Our policy is try to maintain as much of the remaining tooth structure as possible, since nothing perfectly replaces the natural tooth. Another policy we stand behind is not rushing. We will spend as much time as needed with you in order for you to feel comfortable during treatment. Please call us for a consult! We look forward to hearing from you.
