Case Description
I am searching for a family dentist in the Dallas area, mainly for my husband and myself. Children are currently on CHIP. We're self-employed with no dental insurance. It's been a while since we've been to a dentist, and though we're not in any pain, we're pretty sure we've got a cavity or two or three. . . .

We will likely need exam, cleaning, x-rays, and fillings. Prefer tooth-color (enamel?) fillings. We're on a tight budget, but would like to move forward with treating the cavities before they get any worse.

Could you give me a general guideline for the cost of exam, cleaning, x-rays, and fillings for a CASH paying customer? Also, is there really any cost savings if I were to sign up with one of those "dental plans" (not insurance) so prevelant today?

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:

  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Our office is located in North Garland. The best way for you to go would be to come in for a complete exam and x-rays. The cost for this is $143.00. The doctor could then determine if you needed any fillings, which range from $105 to $200 each depending on the location and size. He would also determine if you needed a simple cleaning or something more, since you haven't had a cleaning in several years. Once we had your oral health in good shape your regular recall visits for cleanings twice a year cost $91 for a cleaning and exam and $135 for a cleaning, exam and decay detecting x-rays. We normally take x-rays once a year.
