This dentist will lure you with a cheap first procedure to make you comfortable then slap you with an expensive 2nd treatment. He called personally to inform me that I might have some money left from my Dental insurance in which he plans to clean out! He will perform an expensive treatment without informing you of the price. The proportion of the insurance and the my copayment did not seem legitimate. and only provided an odd explanation after it was all over. It felt like he setp me up. I wish I had not come to him at all.

I came in for a fixed bridge with a price quote of 3700 and left 18 months later spending 8000. This "DR" and I use this term loosely chipped my $3000 5 unit fixed bridge while removing it with temporary cement. He said it didn't really matter and was only cosmetic in nature. He thought he was doing me a favor in doing a bonding to patch the slovenly work. I had 2 bondings that came out flossing my teeth in short order. I believe I had unnecessary cavities found just to rack up a big bill. He also bought a phony trophy from TopDocNY who is out of business with an F rating from the BBB. I usually don't dispense advice but profit from my misery. STAY CLEAR OF THIS DR. HE DOESN'T CARE IF YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED AND WILL DRAIN YOU OF ANY MONEY HE CAN GET. DON'T FALL FOR HIS PHONEY ADS IN A LOCAL QUEENS PUBLICATION. HIS STAFF GOES ALONG WITH HIS FRAUD BECAUSE THEY'RE HARD UP FOR EMPLOYMENT AND HAVE LOW SELF ESTEEM. Luckily I found a competent dentist who's sole motivation in life isn't GREED. REMEMBER AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COSTS. HE'LL RUIN YOU AND HAVE ZERO REMORSE!!!!

I came to this dentist in Oct. 2010 after my dentist of 40 years passed. I had serious dental issues and found this jerk at random. I had an emergency and knew I had to do something fast. I was quoted 3600 to 3700 initially and came out of this office spending nearly 9000. I paid for most of the important work up front. The Queens County Dental Society frowned on this. I was unemployed and received money from my elderly mother. This creep and pallbearer knew this. Everytime I came back there another problem ie. another cavity or other problem. I believe I received work that was unnecessary. This man WORSHIPS MONEY and will do anything to keep draining your lifes blood in the guise of necessary treatment. HE LIES. STAY CLEAR OF THIS MAN THAT'S GOOD FREE ADVICE FROM ONE WHO KNOWS, ME He also needs to do the same job twice in many cases, especially BONDINGS. The dental floss pulls THEM OUT!!! BEWARE OF THIS INCOMPETENT CROOK!!!

This is the worst dentist to go to. Major ripoff. Drills more than he has too. I have lost my life savings paying this man for dental work. Everytime you go to him he will find work that needs to be doen. The work is never done, cavitiies, fillings, it wont end By the time you are done with him, your teeth will be so brital they will just fall out. Now i have constant tooth pain

I went to see Dr. Apfel for general cleaning, and it turned out that I needed a number of cavities filled. He offered to fill the cavities with the typical compound, but suggested I go with the porcelain inlays, because they last longer (and he gets to bill insurance a helluva lot more!). No question about it, they look fantastic, and I've never had any problems with them. However, when I went back recently, he did a cleaning and said I needed to have a couple more cavities filled on the right side. He started drilling, and I'm thinking he's simply going to use the regular compound, but instead told me, after he had already drilled out my teeth, that he's going to put porcelain inlays in because they "came out so great last time we did them". Now I have new insurance, which doesn't cover anything like the old one did, and it ended up costing me $1000 out-of-pocket for 2 cavities. It would have been nice if he let me know this initially! Be careful of this guy. He seems nice, and his staff is nice, but any chance he gets to make extra money at YOUR expense, he will take it. I had fantastic insurance before (no cap on expenses), and he thought he had just won the lottery with me!

Dr. Apfel, was recommended to me by a good friend. Unfortunately, my experience with him was negative. I was promised that my treatment would be complete by october 08. It is now march 09. I still have yet to receive a treatment plan. I was given porcelain inlays for 2 teeth. These teeth had amalgam fillings initially. I wanted them removed for aesthetic reasons. Nonetheless, I never felt any sensitivity to my teeth until Apfel touched my mouth. Those teeth are very sensitive now, to hot and cold foods. He said it will take time for my teeth to get accustomed to them. However, I visited another dentist, and said that was untrue. He's a nice guy, but a terrible Dentist. Let me conclude that he is EXTREMELY expensive. That flat screen in his waiting room is a gift from me (dental treatment cost).
