I came to this dentist's office because they had good reviews on Yelp, but we all know how Yelp works. The other dentist in the office that works with Dr. Hurt was argumentative with me, when I had questions about my bill. As a business owner myself, I had to let Dr. Hurt know about my experience. I thought it was stranger that they were billing me at the office before talking to my insurance company, which raised some red flags. I even received an additional bill after my visit, which said I was 30 days late on the first bill I received. When I called to pay my bill over the phone, the girl on the phone kept trying to repeat my credit card info back to me and when I asked her not to do that, she was offended. I thought that was common sense. I asked her to send me my receipt and that hopefully that would be the end of this. She said "yes, we hope so too." The front desk staff was not professional from the first visit. If you're going to talk to patients like that on the phone, customer service probably isn't a good fit for you.

Professional, courteous, and polite staff, Pricing is fair, not cheap but not a rip off. Chats with customers and completes his duties as fast and timely as any one could be expected to. Try him and I bet you will go back

I've had a cleaning, a few fillings, and 2 temporary crowns done at San Marcos Dental. Dr Hurt had good reviews on other sites, but I was very disappointed. The staff was friendly and that prices seemed high (but typical). However, the work was done very poorly. My temporary crowns came off twice, my fillings weren't polished (so they feel rough), and I keep having to go back so that they can fix whatever they messed up on the previous visit. On of the dentists at the same practice, Dr. Shepherd, tried to overcharge us on some services. When we called her on it, refunded our money and apologized.
About Front Desk: All of the front desk staff has been very kind. One of the girls is extremely loud, but still very friendly.

Highly professional, excellent staff. I am a wimp about going to the dentist. Dr. Gregory Hurt and his staff are exceedingly friendly and careful to put me to ease and providing excellent care for my teeth. I even ask for numbing and happy gas when I get my teeth cleaned. --Dr. Hurt stays on the forefront of his field. He has treated my gums such that they are super, better health than they were five years ago. --His office has worked with me over the years to maximized my dental coverage use. --My father switched to him when his own dentist was more expensive and less experienced at handling bridges and other major related work. --Dr. Hurt solved the hurt in my father's mouth with his bridge and my mouth that had an improper bite causing bad wear and pain in my jaw that I just learned to live with. ...so cleaning, x-rays, fillings, shaping, crowns, periodontics, and root canals all good --Highly recommend him! Don't let the name fool you.

Dr. Hurt is an award winning dentist that has done a remarkable job with my family and i for years. I would recommend him to anyone that needs any type of dental treatment. He is professional, compassionate and just a all around warm person to have work done by.

A very unprofessional Dr. with an atrocious chair side manner, he and his staff are uninformative, and he strives on simply making as much money as he can from each of his patients.
I will never recommend him to anyone.

Poor time allocation. Chatty, talks to visitors, friends and sales reps into your time while your're waiting, either in chair or out front. Rushes trhough procedures. One dental assistant is exremely annoying and doesn't do thorough work. When you complain, she argues with you. They engage in conversations about whatever over your face. Doesn't offer eye protection for patient, only themselves. Procedures are expensive according to my insurance. Charges for missed appointments, regardless of cause or those made six months out, even if they are not confirmed.
